"It is the child in me that loves watercolors, perhaps because they are so spontaneous. Watercolor wants someone who is willing to play. It asks us to make friends with uncertainty; reminds us that if we are free enough to enjoy the surprises, exciting things will follow."

Carol Egmont St. John is a poet, author, watercolorist, oil painter and workshop leader. Examples of St. John's newest work can be found in Tubac, AZ, at the el Presidito Studios for working artists.  Her first book of poetry, Taproots: Where Ideas are Born, has been followed by the novel, Anchors of the Soul.  She is a member of SSA (Society of Southwest Authors).

Locally, she belongs to Tubac's Chamber of Commerce and the Nogales-Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce.

Self-described as "a teacher first," her workshops are a by-product of 25 years of professional teaching. InnerReach -- a creativity workshop for everyone and Paint as Play have been experienced by hundreds of workshoppers east and west as have St. John's presentations of Owning Your Creative Self.

Recently, on a playful note, her fascination with the Red Hat Society has resulted in the creation of pins, hats, cups, magnets and cards @ the theme.

Her works are in private collections around the world.

I expected to enjoy myself, however this was an experience I'll never forget.  These "lesson" days should be on everyone's To Do Lists.
